CES: Monthly Nonfarm Job and Wage Estimates by Industry (NAICS)

Monthly estimates produced under a Federal-State cooperative program between the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (IDWD). The BLS develops the concepts, definitions, and technical procedures used in the preparation of these estimates, which are part of the Current Employment Statistics (CES) survey to collect data each month on employment, hours, and earnings from a sample of 7,000 Indiana nonfarm establishments.

Revisions
According to IDWD, "current month estimates may be revised slightly if additional data received in the following month warrants a change and may be revised when new benchmarks are constructed annually." It is generally good to consider the most current month's data preliminary and the preceeding month revised.

Data sources
Indiana MSAs are estimated by the Indiana Dept. of Workforce Development.
U.S. and 50 States are provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Dataset characteristics
Establishment-based (physical location of business). Due to rounding the sum of individual industry items may not equal totals. The national CES data will be converted to NAICS with the release of May 2003 data on June 6, 2003.
