Employment and Earnings
Tracking the number of jobs in an area and the wages they pay is an essential and ongoing development task. But which data series to use?
Your choice will depend on whether you want the most current (CES), the one with the most industry detail (QCEW), or the most comprehensive (BEA). Each of these have advantages and disadvantages and should be chosen based on the specific task at hand.
User Note: These data series are now coded by the NAICS categories. The SIC coding system is history. But we're keeping that history for those who want to go back in time. Click on the industry coding system link to get into the series you want.
